Lokve, a pristine village located in the very heart of Trnovo Forest, is the perfect starting point for hiking and excursions to the nearby natural sites.
A stone’s throw away lies a village by the name of Lokovec, known for the art of blacksmithing. In the past, almost every home had a blacksmith’s workshop where blacksmiths forged nails, knives, fauče (a type of curved knife), gimlets and other tools that the work on a farm called for.
Today, Lokovec hosts the Small Museum of Blacksmithing. This area also has a long tradition of picking and processing herbs. It is kept alive in the Grgavske Ravne Herbs Garden. People living on the plateau still produce a number of local products – cheese, honey, fruit and other local goodies, which is a good testament of unspoiled nature.
