It presents the domestic arts of Central Štajerska and through a rich programme of activities enables its visitors to become acquainted with the cultural heritage of former constructors.
During a stroll through the open-air museum the visitors can see subpanonian buildings typical for the Obsotelje Region between the 19th and mid-20th century, and during hands-on workshops get to know domestic arts and crafts, farm chores, traditions and customs, e.g. baking bread, knitting with bast and wicker, handweaving, blacksmithing, stonemasonry, osier boiling and peeling, making Easter bundles and dough baskets, etc.
It is not only
Slovenia’s largest open-air museum, but also a cultural monument of national importance. In 1997 it was nominated best European museum.
